Making ‘A good place to be’ even better
The community demand for more youth programming continues to increase and this has created waiting lists for much needed programs. For example, we are currently unable to offer formal programming for youth during the critical time period of 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. because of space constrictions.
Committed to doing Our BEST, the building expansion will allow us to deliver quality programming to at least 200 more youth per day. New facilities in the building will include a dance studio, an art and media studio, a larger gym and other program rooms. Other benefits include increasing the joint efforts of community agencies to deliver a coordinated range of services.

The initiative to expand and create new program space was a collaborative process that included Our BEST friends - East Scarborough children, youth, parents, staff of the Club and community members.
As an important community hub for youth, it is important for the Club to reflect the talent and culture of the community. Markham High Tech Architect, a local architectural firm hired by the Boys and Girls Club of East Scarborough, has delivered a strong project design that reflects the overall member and community input while maintaining the integrity of the current structure features so important to the Club membership, such as the youth artwork on the external walls.
True to the core values of the Boys and Girls Club of East Scarborough, the expansion enables opportunity and inclusion for community youth. Children and their parents have found a safe haven with Boys and Girls Club of East Scarborough for over 50 years, and growing the walls will ensure that the Club is ‘A good place to be’ for many years to come.
