The Corvette Early Years Centre offers a place to bring your child(ren) to play, socialize and learn. The program offers a variety of areas in which you and your child(ren) can interact with each other, other children and other adults.
Program Activities
- Play Room - Free play area, toys for all ages of children, craft table, sensory table, block area, quiet area, dramatic area and snack table.
- Craft Table - A different craft each day, encouraging adult/child interactions, imagination and creativity.
- Sensory Table - A variety of sensory materials ranging from sand play to macaroni and rice play, each offering a different sensory experience.
- Baby Area - The carpeted baby area offers a variety of toys for children under the age of one.
- Block Area - Set up with wooden blocks of varying sizes and shapes, children can build and create as many things as their imagination can come up with.
- Gym Activities - Each week the gym is set up with climbing apparatus, bikes, balls, mats and other play items.
- Sing-Song/Circle Time - The sing-song group is led by staff of the centre. The children are led through familiar children's songs and finger plays. Children are encouraged to join in and learn the songs.
- Dramatic Area - The children are able to explore and be creative by expressing their feelings through role playing.
- Snack - A healthy snack is served daily, however, parents and caregivers are encouraged from time to time to donate snack items.
Registered Programs
- Creative Learning In Progress (C.L.I.P.):
This program is a school readiness program geared for children between the ages of 3 and 5 years. The program operates during the summer camp program for the children in the community.
The program focuses on fine motor skills, math, sequencing, number recognition, letter recognition and other skills to prepare your child for the school system.
The program runs Monday - Friday.
Registration is required and is limited.
Registration is in June.
- Nobody's Perfect, Baby Buddies, Mother Goose:
These are programs that are offered at various times of the year. They are free but you must register. Parents and caregivers are able to chat with each other about discipline and other parenting challenges. You will learn new songs and learn about other resources available in the community. Watch for the flyers posted in the Resource Centre.
