Youth Programs at the Boys & Girls Club of East Scarborough

 

The Youth Programs at the Boys & Girls Club of East Scarborough integrate a combination of approaches involving prevention, intervention, and positive youth development. The program embraces a holistic approach to provide an environment that provides youth with a creative outlet and an opportunity to develop positive interaction & relationship building with their peers. The purposes of our programs are to provide opportunities for youth to participate in activities that promote healthy life-styles, create conditions for youth to experience success, to maximize their full potentials through life skills, leadership development and civic responsibilities. The programs run from Monday to Friday from 3:30pm-8pm as well as on weekends for special events and field trips.


Young Women In Motion: 
Is a program designed to empower, encourage and support young women in developing social development and defining who they are as young women in society. Through building leadership skills, self esteem workshops, the young women will engage in trainings, workshops, and discussions that engage them in career awareness and community involvement.




Men in The Making
Is a leadership development program for young men that empowers and encourages them to reach their full potential. The program focuses on developing their social and leadership skills while exposing the young men to career opportunities.



  • UPS (United Parcel Service) Road Code: 
Road Code is a fun and educational program that brings UPS’s safe-driving expertise to youth. Road Code integrates UPS’s world class defensive driving methods in a unique 4-week teen safe driving course. During one session per week, UPS volunteers present two hours of classroom instruction to young people ages 13 -18 utilizing driving simulators.



  • Game Tech: 
Provides youth an opportunity to increase computer skills and visual art through design development of video games.  By using the latest in digital media art software, participants increase their knowledge about technology and video gaming.



  • Sports & Recreation: 

Is to affect change in the minds and lives of our young people by encouraging active living, providing them with outlets for growth and development to become responsible, disciplined active members of our community through sports and recreational programs. These programs include but not limited to: Drop-In Dance, House League Sports and Yoga.
