The first week of the Chill Program was an absolute blast! On the ride up to the ski hill the Chill Coordinator, Alistair, organized an activity and lesson for the group on patience. It got the youth thinking about the patience that would be required to learn snowboarding. After arriving at the hill, the youth got suited up with the gear and snowboard equipment provided by Chill.
The youth learned how to strap up in the snowboard, get off the ski lift and make their way down the hill on their heal edge going left to right down the hill. Their was a lot of falling and snow covered youth, as it was everyone’s first time on a snowboard. That being said everyone had an amazing time and never gave up. I was so proud of the youth and the patience and confidence they exhibited to keep on trying even though it wasn’t easy. By the end of the night the youth were riding on their heel edges like pros.
Everyone is ready and excited to get back on the hill next week!
