This week RRTG participants got the opportunity to visit the Toronto Humane Society (THS).
The tour started off with a brief history of the THS. After learning about it’s beginning and the animals it once catered to, we were then able to get to see all the animals that the THS now serves and supports. On the bottom floor we were able to see all the dogs, small animals like rabbits, gerbils and mice, and reptiles. On the top floor we got the opportunity to see all the cats and kittens. We were lucky enough to have the staff let us play with one cat and one kitten.
For many of our youth who are interested in working with animals, they got to see what a career in animal services looks like. It was also a great opportunity for the youth to learn about the importance of the humane treatment of animals and the need to adopt over shop.
Most youth left wanting to bring a new furry friend home.
Thanks THS for hosting the Boys & Girls Club of East Scarborough!
