This is the bullet-pointed version of the program:
Program description: ROOTS is a Saturday school program for students in Grades 3 to 6. Developed by the Boys & Girls Club of East Scarborough’s Academic Enhancement Committee, the ROOTS program aims to improve the academic potential and social-emotional capacities of children and youth in the local community. With our small class sizes, flexible programming, and holistic philosophy, our program strives to help each student set realistic, yet challenging, academic goals and then meet those goals. Utilizing inquiry- and project-based pedagogies, ROOTS instructors aim to improve the performance of our participants at their home schools by strengthening their grasp of fundamental concepts in the areas of language, mathematics, social science, and science and technology. Our program is well suited for students who would benefit from targeted literacy instruction and small group approaches to learning.
