Goodness gracious, is December going to be great at the Boys & Girls Club of East Scarborough! We have so many fun events and activities planned to celebrate the holidays at the ESBGC. Here’s a rundown of everything.
First of all, you can keep track of all the goings-on at our Calendar page, which is continually being updated as new events are organized.
Breakfast With Santa:
We posted this previously, but it’s worth repeating:
Join the Boys & Girls Club of East Scarborough on Saturday, December 8, 2012, 9:00 a.m. to noon for a Breakfast with Santa, hosted by Foresters. You won’t want to miss the delicious pancake breakfast, cookie decorating and ornament making and – oh, yeah – you get to see the big man himself, SANTA CLAUS. There is no cost to this event, but we are asking for a $5 donation towards our Magic of Snowflakes Campaign to help provide food to families in need during the holidays.
Registration for members begins on Monday, November 19, and for non-members on Monday, November 26. Space is limited so register early to avoid disappointment.
UPDATE: So, the big guy has come and gone from the ESBGC. Don’t believe it? We’ve got the photos:
Festival of Lights:
During December, and especially in December’s first week, all of our sites will be hosting various Festival of Lights activities to discuss the five principals of harmony, unity, respect, diversity, and dignity. Perhaps the best intro to the Festival would be this video that we put together:
There are a few videos from last year’s festival as well – check out Club youth singing some holiday classics:
Here is a copy of the Festival of Light’s calendar, though keep in mind it may get updated and you may want to keep an eye on the calendar page.
Club staff will be providing gift wrapping at the Cederbrae Mall throughout December. All we ask is for any donation that you can provide. To check the times, have a look at our Calendar’s Agency Wide Events page.
Magic of Snowflakes:
This campaign provides food to local families who are in need. Last year, we distributed 70 food hampers in December, a record number for our organization. Help support the program by sponsoring a family, running a food drive, putting a coin box in your office or reception area, or by following some of the other suggestions in the Magic of Snowflakes’ announcement flyer located here.
Please join us at the Boys & Girls Club of East Scarborough this Saturday, December 8, from 6-9 p.m. for a performance of some beautiful and seasonal choral music by the Scarborough East Community Multicultural & Gospel Choir. Bring the family, and enjoy music that sets the mood for this time of festivity and togetherness.
In addition to to the beautiful music, drinks and refreshments will be served. We hope to see you there!
And stay tuned, because we have more to announce in the coming weeks!
